Engagement models
Three ways to work with us.
Fixed price when the scope is clear, time and materials when it will evolve, and a monthly retainer when you want a team on call.
What engagement models does Qodexify offer?
We offer three: a fixed-price project for well-defined scopes, time and materials for evolving work billed on the effort used, and a monthly retainer for continuous engineering capacity, support and improvement. We recommend starting with a short paid discovery or pilot, then choosing the right model for the main build.
Compare
Pick the model that fits your situation
| Fixed price | Time and materials | Monthly retainer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Defined scope: MVPs, websites, integrations | Evolving scope: product development, R&D, AI pilots | Ongoing work: maintenance, improvements, extra capacity |
| How you pay | Milestone payments | Monthly, for effort used | Monthly, fixed fee |
| Budget certainty | High | Medium, with caps and forecasts | High, predictable |
| Flexibility | Changes handled by agreed change requests | High, reprioritise any time | High, within the agreed capacity |
| Typical start | Paid discovery, then a quote | Short sprint cycle | Onboarding in 1 to 2 weeks |
| Typical range | $10k–$120k per project | Weekly or monthly effort-based | From roughly $2k per month |
Ranges are indicative and depend on scope. See our cost guide and cost estimator for more detail.
How to choose
Three questions that decide it
How clear is the scope?
If you can describe exactly what you need, fixed price works. If you expect to learn as you go, choose time and materials.
How important is budget certainty?
If you need a fixed number for approval, start with a paid discovery to define scope, then fix the price.
Is the work one-off or continuous?
One-off builds suit projects. Continuous improvement, support and capacity suit a retainer.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which model is cheapest?
It depends on how well defined your scope is. Fixed price is cheapest when the scope is clear and stable. Time and materials avoids paying a premium for uncertainty when the scope will evolve.
Can we start with a small project?
Yes. A paid discovery, pilot or proof of concept is the best way to test the working relationship before a larger commitment.
How is time tracked and reported?
On time-and-materials and retainer work you receive regular reports of what was done, so you can see where the budget goes.
Do you offer discounts for annual retainers?
Longer commitments can earn better rates. Ask us for options once we understand your needs.
What if we want to bring development in-house later?
We design for handover: documentation, clean code and knowledge transfer, so you are never locked in.
How do payments work?
Fixed-price projects are paid in milestones. Time-and-materials and retainers are invoiced monthly. Details are agreed in the contract.
